"You’re not alone. I think because of the stigma, people don’t talk about their problems with addiction. So often, when you or someone you love has an issue, you THINK you’re the only one. But the numbers tell a different story. The U.S. Population is about 340 million people. The number of people with addiction (as of 2023) is about 48.5 million. If you assume each of them have two family members (97 million people), that means at least 145 million people or 1/3 of the population! are directly affected. To me, that suggests just about anyone in the U.S. has a friend, if not a family member, who has been impacted by addiction. " - Lisa Poggi
